Akwa Ibom Poly 2017/18 Admission Screening Exercise Commences


This is to inform all candidates that the process of registering candidates for 2017/2018 Admission screening Exercise has commenced in the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified candidates.

I attended a meeting recently at the headquarters of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Bwari, Abuja: the post-2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination review meeting chaired by the JAMB registrar, Professor Ish-aq Oloyede. Participants included Professor Oloyede and his technical team, field officers and other staff, all the Chief External Examiners who supervised the 2017 UTME, across Nigeria, mostly Vice-Chancellors of universities, and provosts/rectors of polytechnics and colleges of education, in addition to major stakeholders from civil society.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday announced the blacklisting of 72 of the 600 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres used for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) across the country.
JAMB’s registrar, Is-haq Oloyede,  said the blacklisting of some of the centres was due to their alleged involvement in extortion and “organised examination malpractice” during the UTME.
A few others are technically deficient, the examination body said.

15-year-old Boy Stabbed to Death Over Instagram Arguments


A 15-year-old boy has been stabbed to death over what has been suspected to be his comments on an Instagram discussions, Punch reports.

The tenage boy was reportedly ambushed moments after he left his school in the British Capital City.

He was stabbed at least three times in his back, shoulder and upper leg by someone who has been identified as a 15-year-old boy, but who cannot be named for legal reasons, the court heard.

JAMB Releases Over 1.6m UTME Results, Seizes 80,000 Others

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has released the results of over 1.6 million out of the over 1.7 million candidates who sat for the recently concluded 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination UTME).

The Registrar and Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this wednesday at a press briefing in Abuja.
Oloyede also disclosed that the results of over 80,000 candidates were withheld for various reasons, especially suspected examination malpractices.
